Need Bees This Year!

Posted: 26/03/2013 at 16:39

Ryan - I've got pulmonarias ranging from white to pink, purple and blue. If yours are anything like mine they will self-seed everywhere  Our honey bees should be on them now but it's too cold for them to venture out - they won't normally until it's around 10C. I hope they have enough food still stored to see them through this neverending cold.

Best and worst

Gosh some of your loves are my hates and vice versa!

My absolute love is filling my trug with the vegetables I have grown.

My least favourite job is probably weeding our bark mulch path - currently it has loads of self-seeded potentilla in it  - you know the usual saying...

Our asparagus crop was definitely reasonable last year - not bad, not excesive - maybe depends where in the country you are. Hang on in there lizathome - it's ealy days!

For me too it will at last mean that I can get out in the garden after work. I've currently got 2 weeks off work beacuse I have to use up my holiday and I am feeling cheated! I'd ordered dry warm and sunny for my break but what do we get!  So much to catch up on!

SNOW!

No snow here in Hampshire but it is bitterly cold. SInce there's not a lot I can do in the garden itself I've been cleaning/tidying/painting the inside of my shed. Out of the direct wind but I still keep getting freezing and have to come in for a cup of tea to warm me up!

Gauntlet recommendations, please

I too have the Gold Leaf Tough Touch ones - I'm 1.75m tall with long fingers and they fit me fine. And they are so elegant - look fab with my old donkey jacket! A recommendation from me !
