Community gardening

Just read this. I love the idea of community gardening but I don't think James Wong's suggestions are going to get many people excited to be involved!

We have them and have used them for tomatoes grown outdoors only, not in the greenhouse. They do facilitate watering and feeding and the plants have indeed had substantial root balls. Not a fat lot of good however since the tomatoes invariably get blighted outdoors. Not gong to strongly recommend them cos there are indeed cheaper alternatives!

Exactly the same siuation for us chicky - we just keep buying new ones. Be good to know of a longer lasting one but maybe 4 years is in fact value for money considering they are not that expensive to buy?

Hi Laurie - there are lots of lovely people here who will answer you! I imagine growing in Canada might be a bit different from the UK but Wikipedia says you have a "fertile land and temperate climate" so good luck !

Our local greengroce is selling 3 bunches for £2! Not a lot of help to you maybe but try your local shops/markets?

Definitely not a poplar - have one of those (previously 2 but one had to go) - the bark is totally different. Looks a bit like birch to me too.Post a photo when the leaves unfurl!

So good to see you posting again Dove . Thanks for the link - I am plant-sitting again for SS (Does that exist)? and he says his has changed from blue to pink so hope to bring it back again
