Rhododendron : Dark irregular spots on leaves

Posted: 26/09/2012 at 07:32

I planted a new rhododendron in my garden at the beginning of the year.  I planted it in ericaceous compost and my soil is acid in any case.

I've just noticed that the majority of the leaves have developed irregular shaped browny black splodges  .. when I look at the underside of the leaves they appear to be 'thinning' where the black spots are.

Has anybody any idea what this is and how to get rid of it ?  Previosrhodedendrons which I've grown in the garden have been fine although this is the only one currently growing.

Thanks,

Chris

They seem quite easy.   You'll enjoy regal Pelargoniums ... the blooms are like velvet !

Overwintering Regal Pelargoniums

Posted: 23/09/2012 at 13:13

I have some regal pelargoniums outside in my garden.

I want to keep them for next year and wonder how to overwinter them.

a)  Do I prune them hard ?

b)  Do I pot them up and put them in an unheated shed ?

c)  Do I pot them up and take them into my house ?

d)  How often should I water them ?

Thanks,

chris

I get that stuff on my tarmac !   As a previous contributor said its slime mould and disappears in drier weather.

Overwintering young delhinium plants

Posted: 13/09/2012 at 17:36

Hi,

Just bought a couple of young delphiniums from the GC.  They are about 2 inches in height and have about 4 small leaves.

Is it better to overwinter these in pots or plant them now in the garden ?   Are there still slugs about as they love delphiniums ?

Thanks,

chris
