Carrot Problem

Posted: 30/08/2012 at 12:40

The 'fronds' of the carrot seem to have burned as if they have been in the sun and dried out.

I don't think its gone to seed.

Carrot Problem

Posted: 29/08/2012 at 14:27

My carrots have grown well and are now nearly ready.

I've noticed that the 'leaves' of some of the carrots are slightly frazzled ... has anybody any ideas why ?

thanks

Chris

Almost certainly slugs.

Best thing is to cover the seeds with fleece,  making certain the slugs can't get underneath the fleece !

Works every time !

Fair enough .. leaves look OK though !

Mind you I don't even know the variety ... could be one of these massive ones ... so I'll take your advice and plant it in the garden !

Non flowering : Lilac - In a pot

We have a lilac planted in a pot whicjh is now about 5 years old.

Each year it has a single white bloom (panicle ?)

It hasn't been repotted and stands in a sunny spot.

How can I encourage it to bloom ?

Dahlia : Emergency Resuscitation required

Just had a look at them.

The temp is about 17 C.

They may be making roots ... there are some there but they could be the remnants of last year.

What do 'eyes' look like ?  Some of the tubers have (whitish spots about 1 cm circumference)... but that could be mould / rot ?

Dahlia : Emergency Resuscitation required

I live in Surrey and have several dahlia tubers which I've overwintered in the house.

They have not yet developed any shoots depite all my efforts at CPR !

I have them buried in damp compost in the house.

Can anybody help ?
