Has anyone any ideas and also what sort of compose and drainage would be suitable.

Hi

I am in the process of thinking about winter planting, (first winter being organised) and wondered what your opinions are regarding buying from online suppliers or from Garden Centres regards to price and quality.  If find the largest DIY have large deliveries but are not always looked after once on sale.

Would appreciate your opinons.

Thanks for the positive response I can't wait to get one now.

Italophile, a friend has moved to Italy and lives down south and was pleased with his fig tree so I want to surprise them when they visit with an English fig, yes a bit of competition

Obelxx, I did see Turkey Brown on one of the seed website so will aim for that tree and thanks for the planting info.

It is great to have some many experts who can answer these questions and give such good advice.  Thank to you both and have a good weekend. regards Chris

Fig trees

Hi  I am a newbie but want to try and grow more edible garden plants and trees but have limited space.  I would like to grow patio plants and Lilylouise has tempted me on Blueberries in a pot after watching her video of her garden.  My question is, is it possible to grow a fig tree in this country in a pot on the patio.  Would like some advice before I buy a fig tree as they look expensive. I live in the Lancashire area so can get rather cold in the winter but my garden isn't open.  Have you experts got any good advice for me.

Thanks Chris

Thanks Lilylouise, will certainly look at buying a couple of plants for pots on the patio the family love Blueberries.

I love the video and have looked at it a couple of times including my OH who is amazed at the beautiful selection of flowers and plants, well done.

Geraniums

Thanks for the quick response and great info.

I wasn't sure how to take cutting with buds on, thanks for the advice I will take cutting and do Alina as you suggested and pinch out the flower bud of the trailing geranium which has ivy shaped leaves.

The bedding geraniums I have, does the same apply regarding the the shape of the leaves, my bedding gerainium have a dark green tough Ivy shaped leaf so I think they must be hardy.

Thanks again for the info.

Thanks for your quick response, we should have asked before we did all that hardwork today in the heat .  Do you think it would be OK to give it another coat of Teak oil now.
