Ive looked in my garden centre and cant find Hellebores at all.  Are they out yet? I wanted one for the bees as a larder in those coming out of hibernation months.

Yikes spikes If you have cats in the neighbourhood its very hard to stop them doing what unfortunaltly comes natural to them.

I have had to strike a balance also. I feed black birds and have many kitties trying to get them. I use a water squirter and chase them out to the front garden where i give a reward them in the way of treaties and this trains them to wait out the front and not enter the back.

I use to have a cat that chased all the others out of the garden and sat next to the black bird whilst he munched his way through his breakfast. Unfortuanatly he passed away and now the jobs mine. So if you want to scare the kitties out your garden - get a tom cat and he will see them all off.

Failing that stop feeding the birds if looks like its going to mean the demise of them.

My indoor Moth Orchid has just lost its final flower. What should i do now - keep watering it or trim it? When will it flower again? Its the whilte variety and i fed it well whilst it flowered all summer.

Tulips are a definate in my book. I heard they only flower once - is this true?

Thanks guys - it really is a grey area isnt it. I will continue to buy what i like and look up the rest on the internet.

Whats good for winter interest in pots? Hardy and colourful preferebly.

Also Im looking forward to buying my bulbs of which i will plant in september for spring colour. I fancy Orange - any ideas guys?

Im a beginner so bare with me on this. I wondered how to distinquish between recognising all of the above without having to read the label at the garden centre? Is their a hard and fast rule as to what will be an annual, perenial etc?

And more importantly what the major difference as to why a plant will only last one year wheres as bi - annaul can do another year and so on?
