Garden Gallery 2013

Hi Busy-Lizzie I'm viewing this on my iPhone today and if I give a long tap on your photos (not a quick tap which just enlarges the page or a hold down which gives you the option to "save the image" etc) then it enlarges the photo by opening it in another browser page. Very lovely they are too!! I'm after a clematis like that to grow through a lilac tree but I want one that flowers later so that once the lilac had finished flowering the clematis fills it with colour again. I think a white lilac would look great with a contrasting dark clematis like yours.

Fairygirl I will certainly get a photo for you. I'm not back in UK from Finland til next weekend but if Lindsey gets a free minute before then I will get her to email me a pic and post it on here. I chatted to her on video Skype this afternoon and she gave me a quick tour round the garden! Despite the inclement weather everything was looking very bright and healthy if a little windswept.

Hi Mrs Garden, I'm on the top edge of the Colne Valley, Huddersfield and between the wind and the rain not much survives here! Could do with some ladybirds this year tho as our new Gentle Hermione rose (the most amazing scent) has managed to attract a few greenfly that we wipe away every few days. Blitzed the slugs and snails as soon as the snow disappeared this year by nightly physical "search and destroy" missions and so far we have managed to keep on top of them. We employ the usual beer traps, upturned grapefruit halves etc too and touch wood we have suffered hardly any munching!!

Hi Green fingered finch it's too cold up here in Yorkshire for aphids etc too survive. Hence our plants are intact!! We struggle to grow anything too exotic though.

Hi Wintersong, thank you. Lindsey chose that one and I chose a "black" one called Black Star which has very dark plum coloured stems too and looks stunning. We picked them up at Gardeners World Live a couple of weekends ago for £16 for the two. Superbly healthy plants which seem to have transplanted well to their new homes. I'm hoping to divide them next spring as en masse they should look even more amazing!

I'm working away in Germany/Finland for a few weeks so my beautiful wife is sending me regular updates as our garden slowly but steadily bursts in to summer colour. This is a little collection of potted plants on the steps/decking by our french doors. Clive and Lindsey.
