The problem I have had with all hanging baskets is longevity, I tried wooden baskets and they rotted, the plastic ones went brittle after a couple of years, wire ones need new liners every year. I will be interested to see how you get on.

Thank you Verdun, have you ever found an everlasting with a fragrance?

Loz I would not plant out untill they are strong enough to cope with blackbirds digging up my garden and my plants, good luck.

Sorry I did not explain myself clearly, they grew quite happily but never flowered until the second year. I seem to have this problem quite a lot and wondered if it was common enough for someone to have a list. Sadly cold and wet summers I cannot control even in sunny Cornwall.

Stephen I hope that these are perennials

Hi Lynne

What size were they and are you growing them on somewhere warm. I often find that the plugs were smaller than I expected . If you can get them somewhere warm that will help but then you will have to harden them off.

I wonder if someone could help me, I sowed my Everlasting sweetpeas 2 years ago and they only flowered in the second year, what did I do wrong?

Verdun hi to you, Cornwall is God's own county in my opinion and those of us lucky to live here should enjoy the opportunity to garden in a warmer manner.

I cannot remember having any problems with the New Guineas, I did not do anything different from taking normal cuttings. Maybe I had a particularly virulent parent plant?

I have found that they take quite easily, I just pop them in a jam jar of water and 3 weeks later I had a nice set of roots.

Border plants sound like perennials, they are often harder to germinate, are you expecting flowers this year?

I have only managed to germinate 2 out of 5 seeds, is this normal?

Will I be able to collect seeds if it flowers?
