Can I make new plants?

Posted: 04/11/2017 at 09:50

Hi, I am just about to clear my New Guinea impatiens and wondering if I could overwinter them and propagate new plants from them in spring. Or could I root cuttings now and over winter them...or should I just bin them? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Position and pruning of Sorbus aria 'Lutescens'

Hi. Since I last posted on this thread my tree has died. Verticillium wilt was the cause. Parts of the tree completely died back and I sent pictures to RHS for diagnosis.

I think that my aquilegias are suffering the same fate...I am in Essex. I don't seem to have a plant that has escaped. Have those of you that deadheaded last year had a reduced problem this year or is it too early to tell yet?

Hi Fidgetbones, I have just realised that there is no zoom function anymore- very frustrating!

Sorry, this picture is a bit blurry.

I haven't been on the site for a while and am shocked by the changes. I like the camera icon but the rest will take some getting used to....

Thanks but I'm sure it is not a Persicaria...and not Leycesteria either. Forget about the 'L' ... putting that down to a senior moment!

I bought this plant quite a while ago and the label as disappeared. Any ideas what it is as I would like to plant it in the right situation.

Thought it began with the letter L  but have trolled through my books and can't find anything beginning with L that resembles it!!

Thanks.

The dreaded vine weevil!

Exactly the same thing has happened to me! Blamed the kids for pulling them out at school then had to explain to everyone about vine weevils . I have drenched all my new polyanthus plants with provado and am giving them 2 weeks for the stuff to work before I replant - weather permitting!
