Crocuses chewed off by squirrels/pigeons.

Invest in a waterscarecrow - expensive for the initial outlay but it means your bulbs, seedlings, vegetables and all the hard work will be the pay off. I really can't recommend them highly enough...don't go the cheap options go for the Contech one.

I now have a poo free patio and move it around the garden as the need arises - bulbs, strawberries, seedlings etc. I don't think it will work on the mice  but it certainly works on cats, foxes, squirrels and pigeons!

The heron has arrived....it has to be the same one each year...I wonder how long they live

He or she  definitely has a good memory for a good fishing opportunity - I hate it when I see the frog's legs dangling out of its beak.

That's nature, though!

Hi Stagbeetle, It's early days for frogspawn - what part of the country are you in? Frogs always return to where they were spawned so they should be on their way (if you had them in the old pond). With a preformed pond ensure you have good shallow or gently sloped entry and exit points as the depth and accessibility of the water will be more important to them than the fact it is a new pond. You seem to have gone to a lot of trouble to preserve the water/mud etc from the old pond, I hope your diligence will pay off. Let us know when you see any action!

Which part of the country are you in Bekkie?

Anyone a winner?

Never won on the premium bonds or GW.

However, I have had a moment like Blue Onion and Singing gardener when a large, I mean, huge box  was delivered. No delivery note, nothing to say where it had come from or why.

I thought my mum had bought me something...no! After much racking of grey matter, I remembered....about 6 months earlier I had entered a competition in a mag. while sitting in a hospital waiting room and posted it.

I had won the bubble fountain with pump etc....wow!

Thanks for the replies. I have lived in the area and the hedges were well established when I came....I will take some photos tomorrow - weather dependent. The first hedge started to lose its leaves last summer and gradually more and more of this hedge has become defoliated - definitely 10m now dead. The next garden over is again losing sections in the midlle of what was a healthy hedge - we wait to see if it rejunvenates but I can't see any sign of buds/growth.

Hi, my neighbours' privet hedges are dying. Our gardens are about 30+metres in length and each garden is losing hedge on each side of the gardns and in front gardens too. In some sections the hedge is completely devoid of any leaves and others are looking thread bare.I am fortunate that I have holly/hawthorn hedging but am concerned if the disease may contaminate other species. Any ideas?

Help! How can we use this yard?

Which way is your garden facing and where and when do you get the sun - on all of it or just part of it?
