Cucumbers

Posted: 09/05/2012 at 14:50

What do you think is the minimum temperature for the greenhouse ?? I have 4 cucumbers minimum height 14 inches and well in flower/small cucumbers. My OH is decorating our garden room where I had them, so I've had to put them in my greenhouse today. Our garden room had a minimum temp. of 16c - will the greenhouse be too cold for them ?? I'm worried

Fertilisers

I'm getting a bit confused about different types of fertilisers. I have liquid Growmore which is what I have always used before (I have garden compost, 6X and horse manure as well). Should I really be a little more serious and invest in tomato fertiliser etc ?? I am growing tomatoes, chillies, peppers, courgettes, onions, dwarf beans, lettuce, carrots, parsnips, spinach, physalis, strawberries ...... this year ??? What should I use on what ?? What is really essential ??

Plastic bags for seedlings

Lakeland do really nice large bags - size 8, I think. I use them to keep my homemade bread in, but they fit well over seed trays Probably too expensive to buy them just for seeds, but pinching a couple doesn't seem so extravagant  I've also used cling film over small pots.

How early to put plants in the greenhouse

I have a new, bigger greenhouse. I have seedlings growing in a heated (min 14c) and very warm when sunny, garden room. When will it be safe to put them out in the unheated, but very sunny greenhouse (most of them will stay in the greenhouse) - tomatoes, cucumber, courgette (will go outside eventually), chillies, peppers etc.

Thank you

Growing lettuce in the greenhouse

I'd like to grow Little Gems in the greenhouse this year. There are only 2 of us so we don't need a lot. What is the best way to grow them ?? In a growbag ?? Thanks
