How to give feedback about the new site

Posted: 31/05/2012 at 10:48

Hello sotongeoff,

Sorry that you're still having trouble with the edit post feature. Could you confirm what browser (and version number) you're currently using, what operating system and whether you're using a mac or a PC?

I've referred the problem about the indexing of the posts on your settings page.

LIkewise, I will certainly ask if it is possible to incorporate the description box in the thread (which I think would certainly be a better solution than removing it entirely).

All technical development requests and queries that we submit go into a queue, and are assigned a priority. So, issues like broken links, or a page failing to load correctly, will be dealt with before 'nice to have' improvements, which will be further back in the queue. This is isn't because of a lack of concern on our part, it's simply about making the best use of the finite resources that we have. Our very diligent team of developers look after other sites than, so they have quite a list of jobs to work through!

It is very helpful to have feedback, and while we can't implement all suggestions, we do give very serious consideration to the comments that are posted.

Hope this helps. If you can supply the details about your system, I'll follow that up for you.

Reply to Calendula: at present, the quickest route is to click the 'Forum topics' link in the forum sub-menu. We do keep a 'wish list' of functionality, so I can certainly ask the developers if it would be possible to make the transition between the forum themes quicker.

Reply to Salino: thanks for flagging this up. I've just attempted to replicate this problem on my computer, and haven't encountered it yet. It sounds like a temporary bug with our publishing system. If you find the problem is still occurring, do please let me know.

Hello everyone,

We will indeed be restoring the Previous Winners page to the site shortly. Apologies for its temporary disappearance - we've been so busy with the upgrade of the site since late last year, that's it's taken us a while to rebuild it. It's nearing the top of the 'to do' list, though. Thanks for the reminder!

New site - bugs

Hello siminstance,

Unfortunately, a few Chrome users are experiencing a similar problem. Until our technical team get to the bottom of it, the best solution is to try another browser, such as Firefox, and you should find the buttons appear. Apologies for the problem. Do let me know if you have any further difficulties.

Hello diggingdoris. I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble uploading photos. First, a couple of points to check: the images need to be in jpeg format, and they need to be below 1Mb in file size. If your image is a jpeg, and below 1Mb in size, then please let me know what web browser you're using (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer) and if possible, which version number, then we'll do our best to help.

Update for Beverley West: I've received the following response from Thompson and Morgan to the feedback you provided:

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We recognise that on occasion, we have not been able to respond to emails within our usual 24 hour turnaround and appreciate how frustrating this must have been. Ensuring that we have adequate resource to respond to queries is our problem – it shouldn’t become yours. We are very sorry that it has.
Your comments are duly noted and will be used to assist us in a review of our existing process to see where we might be able to improve.
We note that your query has now been resolved, resulting in the successful placing of your order. We hope that you are delighted with your purchase."

I hope this helps. Thank you for taking the time to post your comments.
