Good idea, alan.noakes, and one that has cropped up in editorial meetings before. It's definitely on our wishlist, too!

How to give feedback about the new site

Hello steve001. Regarding the videos, if you have a particular topic that you're interested in, then the quickest way to find it would be to use our new search facility, located at the top of every page. When the results are returned, click 'Articles', which will narrow the search down to projects, features and blogs. If we have a video on a particular subject then it will show in that list.

We're currently in the process of 'tagging' all of our existing site content, which will make the content even easier to find. For example, all tomato-related content will have the tag 'growing tomatoes', and clicking that link will return a list of all projects, videos, problem-solving pages, features and blogs on that topic. The tags should be live on the site early next year.

In the meantime, if you're still having problems finding any particular content, just let us know. (And if we don't have what you're looking for, we can add it to the wishlist.)

Deformed Tree Branches

Hello chrislobsterman. This sounds like fasciation, and it's not harmful. (There are some images of fasciated cherry trees here.)

You can either cut the affected growth out, or, as our following guide says, enjoy it for its curiosity value! More information about fasciation.

Hello dheckert - yes, good point. We're still experimenting with the homepage, so will look at adding author names to the blogs. (Good to hear that value the bloggers so much!)

Information for disabled gardeners is a very good idea, graceland - I've added it to our discussion list for new content.

Hello finoulamcc, we'll be adding a new, localised 7-day weather forecast for gardeners to the site early next year. It will include details such as wind speed and soil temperature, and alert you when you need to carry out tasks such as protecting plants from cold. Before the new feature launches, you can view forecast at the BBC Weather site.

Hello valerie1. That's a strange problem... Can you remember what page the link was on that you clicked? If you can post the address of the page and I'll look into it for you.

Now you can add photos to your posts

Hello Linda, I'm sorry that you've had problems uploading an image. As happymarion suggests, it's worth checking that the image size is lower than 10Mb. If so, is the image you're attempting to upload saved on your hard drive? And does the name include the file extension '.jpg' or '.jpeg'?

Lillybell: Ah, yes, the vexed question of overgrown hedges, and territorial disputes between neighbours. Our very own Kate Bradbury blogged on this subject, and there were some very comments left on her post, too.

Barb2: like yourself, I'm extremely keen that we provide more help to beginner gardeners on the site. We're currently working at better labelling our existing projects, videos and features, many of which are well suited to first-time gardeners. But, over the coming months we'll also look at providing more information on starting a garden from scratch, so please bear with us. In the meantime, you might find our feature on determining your soil type helpful: Find your soil type

Knowing your soil type is essential, as it will determine what type of plants you can grow. You can buy a testing kit from any garden centre. Once you know your soil type, try our new plant search tool, to choose suitable plant. Soil type is just one of the criteria you can search by, others include plant type, feature, hardiness and flower colour: Search for plants

Also, please use this forum if you need any help or advice. Somebody will usually be able to answer any questions you may have.
