Reply to Jean: sorry to be unclear - the file extension is the type of file e.g. Word document or jpeg image, it appears after the file name e.g. 'myshrub.jpg'

If the file is a jpeg, and the file size only 9279 byte, then it should certainly upload, no problem. I'll ask our technical team to investigate the problem for you! I'll send you a direct message shortly, which you can access by clicking your login name, top right hand corner of the screen, and choosing 'My messages'.

Hello Kellymc1983. You can snap up plant bargains on any day of the show! Although some sellers may will offer 'last day' discounts, there is plenty to choice from Wednesday right through to Sunday. You can view a list of the growers who will be exhibiting at the show here:

I hope this helps.

Hello Jen10 Sorry for the continued problem. It isn't possible to upload Word documents or Zip files to the forum - the images do need to be in jpeg format. What is the file size of your original image?

Reply to jean: there certainly shouldn't be any problem with the those pixel dimensions, or that file size. Is your image definitly saved in jpeg format, with a '.jpg' file extension? Do let me know, and we'll sort it out for you! Thanks for bearing with us.

Reply to cloud8: It's good to hear that you enjoy the videos on gardenersworld.com. In response to your point about including the whole growing process, from start to finish, nearly all of our videos are extracts from the Gardeners' World programme archive, so inevitably focus on a particular part of the process, e.g. seed sowing, or planting, at a particular time of year. I quite agree, though, that it would be helpful to have an overview, and we'll certainly bear this in mind when planning any new content. (From a technical/practical point of view, it can be quite costly producing video over an entire growing season, as it would entail several filming sessions over a period of months!)

You might be interested in the new Gardeners' World Grow Your Own guide, available in both 'bookazine' format, and as an iPad app. This features complete grow guides for 60 edible crops, including fruit, vegetables and herbs. Each guide features advice on sowing, planting, maintenance, harvesting and storage, together with recommendations on varieties and culinary tips. You can find out more here:

Reply to annieseed: thanks for the suggestions. Regarding your point about gathering information from around the country, we're always looking for ways to make the site more 'local and personal'. The next step in this process will be the 7-day weather forecast for gardeners, which we're planning to launch later in the spring. I've just asked my colleague on Gardeners' World Magazine, David Hurrion, about plant trials, and he told me that there are no immediate plans to run any ourselves, as we aren't in a position to run formal trials, in the way that, say, the RHS or Which? do. However, there are free seeds tomato and sweet pea seeds available with the April issue of the magazine, and it would be great to hear on this forum how people are getting on with them!

Hello snarf. I'm pleased to hear that you're finding the plant database helpful. It's a good idea to include pest and disease information within the plant profiles. There are thousands of records in our database, so this isn't something we could do in a hurry! In the short to medium term, I recommend using our powerful search facility, at the top of every page. If you put in your plant name there, this will bring up a list of all related content from around the site and forum, including any advice on dealing with pests and diseases. You can further refine search results, by various criteria, including by author, date, so if we have the information you're looking for, you should be able to find it quickly and easily. I hope this helps.

why can I not upload photo

Posted: 26/03/2012 at 16:59

Hello Jean. I'm sorry you've had problems uploading an image. I've just tested the upload facility, and it worked fine. Can I just confirm that the image you're attempting to upload is save in jpeg format?

gardeners world save 25 percent offer off subscriptions

Posted: 26/03/2012 at 10:56

Hello botticelliwoman. The '12 issues for £20' offer was a special one-year rate, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Gardeners' World Magazine, and was advertised as the cost for the first 12 months of subscription. The subsequent annual cost of £35.50 does still represent a saving of 20% on the retail price, so I hope with this, and the other exclusive subscriber-only benefits and offers, you still feel that you're getting value for money. I've passed your comments on to the magazine subscriptions team, who put the special offers together.

Best wishes,

Daniel

Hello Jen10, when you tried to upload your image, did you do so by clicking the small tree icon, at the top of the message input box? If you click select, then navigate to the jpeg file on your computer, select it, then click 'upload', then the photograph should appear. Do let me know if you have any further problems.

2 for 1 entry

Posted: 15/03/2012 at 10:22

Hello Jemima2. Unfortunately, Alnwick Gardens don't participate in the 2 for 1 scheme, so aren't featured in the 2011/2012 Guide. I've sent you a direct message about the list, so please check the 'My messages' link from the dropdown menu.

Best,

Daniel
