Forum up the creek

Hello everyone,

An update of sorts on the problem with the notification emails...

I've just had a meeting with our helpdesk manager, who advised me that the problem is affecting several of the websites they manage, so it seems to be an issue with the publishing platform we use. A developer is working on the issue. Once the fix is found then it has to go through a rigorous testing process, to check it works on different web browsers, operating systems, mac/PCs etc As there are so many different permutations of browser and operating system, this takes some time. Once cleared, it will be scheduled into the next weekly site build, during which any updates / amendments / bug fixes are published to the live server.

So, this means we're looking at an approximate two-week period before the fix is live on the website. I appreciate this is far from ideal - it's frustrating for us too when things don't work as they should - but we are working on it, and we are aware how important the forum is to many of you.

I'm sorry that the news isn't better, but I hope you'll continue to use the forum in the meantime. Thank you again for bearing with us.

Hello busy-lizzie,

I think I might have found a fix for the problem with 'Wyre Forest' displaying as your location! I've sent you a direct message with a fuller explanation. Apologies for the delay - I've been trying to get the bottom of the issue!

Best,

Daniel

Hello fidgetbones, I've double-checked the entries for this competition and there is an entry listed for you, so you it will be counted during the draw. Although you couldn't view the 'Submit' button at the time, the system must have accepted your entry anyway. The developers have now fixed the bug, so hopfully you won't experience any further difficulties. If you do, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Hello fidgetbones - thanks for the update. A developer will look at this as a matter of urgency in the morning. Please be assured you will be able to enter the competition - we will sort it for you and anyone else who wishes to enter but can't currently.

Hello everyone,

I'm enormously for these frustrating technical problems. I've just had an update from our technical helpdesk - they've identified the cause of the problems with threads not refreshing, and the issue with logging in to the competitions. A fix has been implemented, so you should see the effect of that shortly.

If you still have any problems, do let me know and I'll refer them back to the team.

Re: notification messages, this is being pushed up the priority list. This doesn't mean I can promise the fix will be instant, but the team are aware that it is an important issue and how frustrating it is for you that it's not working. I'll update you once I know more.

Thanks for your patience.

Hello Irenejanine. I'm sorry for this problem - it's related to a technical problem we're having with the forum. We've currently got a developer working on a fix. The competition is definitely still open, so rest assured you will be able to enter it - hopefully today! Apologies again.

Hello everyone,

I'm very sorry for the current problems with the forum. There seems to be an issue with the caching of temporary site files, which the tech team are currently looking into. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of the issue and implement a fix shortly. Thank you for bearing with us.

Hello KEF,

Thanks for clarifying. Given that you had no problems signing in on Sunday, I'm hopeful the problems you had earlier were just a 'blip'. The only way to confirm that is to log out and attempt to sign in again - if you do have any further problems please let me know and I'll ask someone on the tech team to look into it for you.

Hello KEF,

Please accept my apologies for the problem you had signing in - I'm pleased that you were were eventually able to access your account. blackest is correct that the input field is case sensitive, so it could be that you had the caps lock on when you were having problems?

If you have any further difficulties, do please let us know.
