Hello again, Anniseed. Point taken re: the seed trials. I think you're right that we should find other ways to involve visitors in the site. One of the best ways of sharing the growing process with others is through images. We are planning the addition of user image galleries later in the year, so this would be one way to check how everyone is getting on with the sweet pea and tomato seeds.

Regarding advice on raising plants from seed, we actually have a whole project section, including videos, on this subject already. Some of the advice is plant specific, e.g. grow tomatoes from seed, while some is more general e.g. sowing seeds indoors, and will apply to a broad range of plants. Please find some links below, that you might find useful:

Seeds and bulbs project section (includes lots of crop-specific projects and videos)

Greenhouse section

Plant propagation projects

Sowing seeds indoors

Sowing seeds outdoors

Blogs on sowing seeds

I hope this helps!

Reply to meiow and SebUK: please accept my apologies - I somehow managed to miss your original messages when responding to Botticelliwoman yesterday. There seems to be an intermittent glitch with the site - I've requested that it be resolved as a matter of urgency, and I'll notify you as soon as it's fixed. In the meantime, you can contact our customer service team on 0844 848 9707, who will be happy to process your order for you. Thank you for letting us know about the problem, and apologies for the inconvenience.

Reply to Jen10: It does sound as if the problem here is the file size of your image - the maximum file size for uploads is 10MB. In order to upload the image you'll need to reduce the file size. Are you on a mac or PC? If you're on a PC, there may well be an application called Paint installed, which will allow you to do this.

There is more info on Paint here.

If you have any further problems, do please let me know!

why can I not upload photo

Hello Jean, I've left my response to your question on the other thread:

Reply to Jean: sorry to be unclear - the file extension is the type of file e.g. Word document or jpeg image, it appears after the file name e.g. 'myshrub.jpg'

If the file is a jpeg, and the file size only 9279 byte, then it should certainly upload, no problem. I'll ask our technical team to investigate the problem for you! I'll send you a direct message shortly, which you can access by clicking your login name, top right hand corner of the screen, and choosing 'My messages'.

Hello Kellymc1983. You can snap up plant bargains on any day of the show! Although some sellers may will offer 'last day' discounts, there is plenty to choice from Wednesday right through to Sunday. You can view a list of the growers who will be exhibiting at the show here:

RHS Plant Avenue

RHS Floral Marquee Exhibitors

I hope this helps.

Hello Jen10 Sorry for the continued problem. It isn't possible to upload Word documents or Zip files to the forum - the images do need to be in jpeg format. What is the file size of your original image?

Reply to jean: there certainly shouldn't be any problem with the those pixel dimensions, or that file size. Is your image definitly saved in jpeg format, with a '.jpg' file extension? Do let me know, and we'll sort it out for you! Thanks for bearing with us.

Reply to cloud8: It's good to hear that you enjoy the videos on gardenersworld.com. In response to your point about including the whole growing process, from start to finish, nearly all of our videos are extracts from the Gardeners' World programme archive, so inevitably focus on a particular part of the process, e.g. seed sowing, or planting, at a particular time of year. I quite agree, though, that it would be helpful to have an overview, and we'll certainly bear this in mind when planning any new content. (From a technical/practical point of view, it can be quite costly producing video over an entire growing season, as it would entail several filming sessions over a period of months!)
