Plant ID - post questions for GW Magazine

Posted: 12/08/2014 at 08:55

Hello Gardengirl. I think nutcutlet is correct, that your plant is Corydalis ochroleuca, the pale corydalis. It's a mound-forming, evergreen that self seeds freely. The flowers are very pretty, aren't they?

Hello Daintiness.

David Hurrion, Deputy Editor of Gardeners' World Magazine, thinks that this variety may well be Clematis 'H F Young'. You can view our plant profile of it here: http://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/clematis-h-f-young/1744.html

Our image in the profile looks much more purple than your images, but if you look at Google image search results, there are some that look much closer: http://bit.ly/1p0a5Kl

What do you think?

Need help identifying a mystery plant in your garden, or one that you've seen on your travels?

Between now and noon, Tuesday 19 August 2014, members of the Gardeners' World Magazine team will be on hand to help. Simply upload an image of the plant (as clear as possible, please!) and we'll post our replies at regular intervals through the day.

Please note this a plant ID thread - if you need help with other gardening problems, do head over to the problem-solving section.

We look forward to seeing your images!

Virus

Hello hogweed,

I took this back to the dev team, and several of our developers read through all the comments on this thread. They're all confident that it's not possible these pop ups were transmitted via gardenersworld.com - it's simply a coincidence that it came up for two separate people while viewing this site. It's quite possibly a browser-related issue. Please be assured it's safe to view gardenersworld.com and that doing so won't transmit any bug or viruses to your computer.

Virus

Hello everyone,

I checked this out with a member of our technical team who assured me that any virus/malware won't have been transmitted via this site. We have robust security measures in place, and if we were the target of any dubious activity our filters would pick it up. It's well worth installing security software to ensure that you use the internet safely. You can set up regular, automated scans to detect any potentially harmful code that has been downloaded onto your machine.

Thanks for raising the issue.
