Allium

Hello Hedgeh0g. Alliums are generally very attractive, so why not learn to love them? Or, continue scrabbling around on your allotment and borders, and hoik them out...

The lily beetle must be the filthiest insect alive. From our own guide to dealing with it: "Possibly to deter predators or disguise themselves, the larvae cover themselves in their own wet, black excrement". Disgraceful.

Music to my ears, happymarion! A good search facility makes all the difference, with a site the size of gardenersworld.com. We're also working on other ways to organise and group all of our content, which will make the site even easier to navigate.

Wise words. Suiting plants to soil type is absolutely key, and a little research can save a lot of bother later, as you say. And at least bindweed has pretty flowers...

How to give feedback about the new site

Thanks, maida.w - our technical team put a lot of effort into improving the plant search, so they'll be pleased to know that you like it.

Patrevlil, it's good to hear that your problem logging in is resolved. I hope the site is useful to you in preparing for spring. Do browse our projects, videos and plant profiles for inspiration, and if you can't find what you're looking for, just use our newly upgraded search facility, located at the top of every page.

You certainly have, happymarion! Is there a pest or problem that you find can't be kept in check by 'organic' means?

Gingkos are magnificent aren't they, and they make a very handsome street tree. Lots in New York, too, apparently...

New site - is it easy to use?

Posted: 03/12/2011 at 12:11

Quite so, happymarion, about the need for the forum. It will be particularly useful as a problem-solving tool, as you say. It is very helpful for the web team, also, to find out what we're getting right and what needs work.

Now you can add photos to your posts

Regarding images, happymarion, early next year we'll be adding the facility for people to create their own image galleries, which we're very excited about. I hope you'll be an early adopter of that feature when it appears!

A feature on the no-dig method is an excellent suggestion, happmarion - definitely one for our list. And, yes, more on raised beds would be a good idea.

LIke you, we are very keen on alpines. You can view all of our alpine-related features, projects, videos and blogs here: http://gw.immediatemedia.co.uk/search/articles/alpine/

By the way, our clever technical team have greatly improved our site search facility, located at the very top of each page, so hopefully you'll now find it easier to locate exactly what you're looking for on the site.
