Hazel - Thanks for submitting your Support Details. Yes, we'll certainly be discussing the email notification glitches at the meeting, which we're off to shortly.

KT53 - Thanks, Nora will add that to the list of feedback about excessive scrolling / navigation

Palaisglide - many thanks for this and welcome back! I'm glad there are elements of the design that you like. That's something for us to build on! As per her post, Nora will continue to look for a solution to the issue with the PMs.

Stargaze lily "Sorry Daniel, not moaning but just letting you know" - absolutely, I know you're not moaning. Feedback / comments always welcome!

"The site will remain near enough the same".

It most certainly will not - we've been working incredibly hard over the last year on hundreds of new pieces of content - videos, projects, features, as well as many hundreds of new plant records, a new plant finder and plenty more besides. That content isn't live yet, but it's not too far away.

"the site will remain near enough the same - You've already said that somewhere else."

No I haven't.

Lyn,

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think you're being a bit harsh...

The forum will certainly not remain the same if I have anything to do with it. We're all committed to making as many improvements as we can, in direct response to the detailed feedback we've had. It's not in anyone's interest to have a forum that people are unhappy with - certainly not in ours.

"Its just a case of peoples reactions to the sudden change, they'll all still use the site, and Daniel and the team knows that."

That makes it sound like you think we're insincere in our intention to correct the mistakes, Lyn, and we take the audience for granted. I can tell you quite categorically that couldn't be further from the truth.

We're in the process of making site-wide changes, most of which will go live over the next couple of months. I don't agree with you at all that the site is "awful" or "rubbish" - we work extremely hard to ensure that it's a good as it possibly can be. It's just as frustrating for us when there are technical problems as it is for the people who use this site.

It's entirely up to you whether you continue using the site - I very much hope you do, as real improvements are on the way. But I'd be grateful if you didn't cast aspersions on our sincerity in doing the best we can.

plant pauper -

Hostafan1 - thanks for this. All very reasonable points - I agree with all of them! I really hope we can deal with the most intensely irritating problems this week, before setting to work on those that are just very irritating.

It's far too early for accurate typing, plant pauper...

Good morning,

I hope you all made the most of the sunshine this weekend and that there aren't too many Pimms hangovers.

Fairygirl - porridge is being had right now.

Thanks for all of your feedback over the weekend - any issues that weren't already on the list will be added before we meet with the technical folk later.

Nora will be around today to answer any further comments / questions you might have and we'll update you on the outcome of the meeting later.

As mentioned, we're hoping to implement the next set of updates around midweek, but we'll get a clearer sense of that later.

Yes, porridge! Fortunately, the canteen at work serves very good porridge, so that's something to look forward to.

Signing off for the evening now. To recap:

1) We're enormously sorry for (quite inadvertently) mucking up your forum

2) We'll make all of the improvements we can over the coming week

3) We won't end up with a perfect forum this week - technical updates are too fiddly and complicated for that, but we'll do all we possibly can

4) Any really fundamental problems we can't address this week will remain on the 'to do' list, to be dealt as soon as is humanly possible

5) We very much appreciate the contribution you all make, we don't take it for granted and we very much hope you won't go elsewhere

6) Other forums are rubbish

More tomorrow! Sleep well.

Daniel
