Shall I hack my Verbena bonariensis?

Posted: 16/11/2013 at 12:47

So the general consensus so far is to leave them be? I wand kind of thinking that anyway. I'll leave them and see how they get on and see if I get any freebies in spring!

thanks guys

Shall I hack my Verbena bonariensis?

Hi all, I'm just doing a pre winter tidy and wondered if you can give me some advice on  pruning down my Verbena bonariensis. They've been in the ground since mid summer and have done well, and I want them to continue to do well next year. The flowers have died down and they're looking a bit sad. If I should cut them down, how low should I go? thanks guys!

48 free perennials for bees

Hi Bilje, thanks for the reply, I wondered if my post heading looked a bit like spam after I published it! I think I might need to invest in a bigger growhouse if I want to keep them safe out of the ground over the winter!

Hi guys. I'm sure lots of us got the 48 free perennials from the gw magazine in August. I just wondered what people where doing with them? I've read that planting perennials in the ground in October time is normally good, so I'm growing on the small plants in 9cm pots and plan to plant them in the borders mid October, then out down a mulch when they disappear and it gets colder. Just wondered what people thought of my plan, and what you were doing with yours. Thanks, Dave

Hi guys, has anyone got any buddleia flowers yet? I thought they'd be here by now, but no sign! The plants are looking really healthy though. I'm in the north west of England.

Will my winter pansies ever flower?

They've finally come out, first one about a week or two ago! The flowers are lovey but the plants are so leggy and stringy!

Ok thanks! So do you think they need sunlight or not? Sorry, I'm quite new to looking after these young plants!

Mine are in potting on compost, John Innes #2. I've got a feeling I may have overwatered when I first potted them up combined with them being too warm on the window ledge. 3 out of the 6 look really roped, the other 3 might pull through! Oh dear.
