Tomato seeds and seedlings

Posted: 11/03/2017 at 23:15

I Norma!ly plant out my tomatoes into used flower buckets from Morison's etc.  They give good depth

for  root growth and I use a 6ft cane in each bucket.  I feed with  high potash  feed and alternate  waterings with seaweed extract and a!ways have good results and plenty of fruit.  I grow my plants outdoors  in a sunny spot as the greenhouse is used for cucumbers.

Timing for seedling planting with this weather?

My greenhouse is full to the brim at the moment, with beans ,peas , petunias and other bedding plants, as well as sub tropical plants all waiting to go out into tubs and baskets. Here in Somerset it has rained almost continuously for the last week or more I turned most of the garden over with the fork to lay a new lawn before the rain  and  have not been able to work it since.Looking forward to some dry and sunny weather so that we all can  enjoy the work that awiats us all.

I have a new bare garden and wish to grow a variety of climbers. What is the best wire and thickness to use for supporting the plants using vine eyes screwed directly into the fence, or would it be better to have the wire fixed to a on a hinged frame so that it can be opened back from the fence for maintainance. Thankyou DaveN.
