I feel lucky to have this beautiful old bridge within a couple of miles of where I live.

Its history reads: "Essex Bridge (grid reference SJ995225) is a Grade I listedpackhorse bridge over the River Trent near Great Haywood, Staffordshire, England.

Spanning the Trent 100 metres downstream of its confluence with the River Sow, it was built in 1550 by the then Earl of Essex a favourite of Queen Elizabeth I. The Earl lived nearby at Chartley Castle. It is now the longest remaining packhorse bridge in England with fourteen of its original forty round span arches left,:129 and has been described as "perhaps the least altered old bridge in the county"

The bridge carries the long-distance footpath The Staffordshire Way over the River Trent, linking the Trent and Mersey Canal tow-path with the bridleway through the Shugborough estate to Cannock Chase.

The bridge is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument."

I'd like to share my pictures with you all

Crikey, that seems to have been a quick pregnancy.......time passes so quickly.

Anyway, best wishes to Mum, Dad & Baby and especially to Nan, Lily. xx

Btw, girl babies are the best......IMHO, of course.

Pleased to hear you enjoyed your day, it is one of my favourite shows. Kings Bromley show was very good, a couple of weeks ago.

I usually try to visit Bakewell show, but this  year decided to give it a miss because parking has proved almost impossible on previous occasions.  I was there on Monday of this week to visit the market.....even then, parking was very difficult.

Lizzie, in view of your interest, perhaps you may enjoy these pics of Shrewsbury Flower Show:

Any Apple Experts?

I was never very thrilled when Microsoft introduced Windows 8 (or 8.1)  but now they have seemingly learned from their mistakes and introduced what seems to be a very interesting operating system in  *Windows 10.

I'm contemplating updating my Dell Inspiron desktop with Windows 7, with this in mind I called in on PC World today and was blown away by this Apple Mac.

APPLE iMac with Retina 5K display

  • OS X
  • Intel® Core™ i5 processor
  • Memory: 8 GB
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M290X
  • With built-in WiFi
  • £1,849.00

Any views from Apple users?

*Free upgrade for Win 7, 8 & 8.1.
