Pinching Out Tops of Broad Beans

Posted: 02/04/2014 at 11:49

I agree with Dove, re eating the tops of broad beans...give em a soak in salt water & wash thoroughly to get rid of any beasties.

Tops of Brussels sprouts can be treated likewise.

Thank you, Ecobaby.....love your shots and am really pleased you like our thread.

I feel starlings were looked down on when they were less common, but it's a fact they have a beautiful plumage when you take a close look......for me I'm not keen on their feeding habits.

Btw, my mum didn't really knit my avatar.

It's always assumed I sound like I'm from Yorkshire. Having heard my own voice and having an auntie with a Yorkshire accent I just don't hear it.

I love Lichfield. Many days out as a child there. Alrewas was a favourite of my dads too.

Bet you say 'duck'!

Yes, Lichfield is quite nice for a tiny city and of course the cathedral is magnificent....if you haven't visited yet, the new war memorial at Alrewas is well worth a visit.

Having a tooth extracted at Lichfield on Friday.

David K, going back to your original post, I'm from Burton on Trent originally, it's always nice to hear people have heard of it... I now live in worcester and people look at me blankly when they ask where my accent is from. Never thought I had much of one, but ho hum. Lovely photo, must dig out the proper camera when I can

SP - I live about 16 miles from Burton....between Lichfield & Stafford.

I think people from Burton do have an accent (none of us think we have one  .....not very pronounced...slightly Derbyshire maybe?

Congratulations on the valuable work you do, G F Mikey. I'm rather puzzled by how much the trees in your pics are in leaf, considering you're further north than me and ours are still quite dormant.......even our roadside hedges have very little leaf yet.
