whats difference between polytunnel & fruit cage ?

When this subject arises I always ask people to consider the chances of ensnaring birds in the nets of fruit cages.

I did this several years ago, trapping and killing a beautiful male blackbird. Shortly afterwards they were dismantled, never to be used again......and to be honest, I've found there to be ample soft fruit for both of us.

I blame Chelsea with its stainless-steel/chrome-plated/plastic/mirrored monstrosities for AT's hare-brained schemes.

For what it's worth, I'd be absolutely furious if anyone descended on my patch and turned it into something like that.

I was astounded at the money spent on these gardens but I wonder if the companies who supply the items do it for free to get the publicity, last night I noticed that Travis Perkins had their logo on show but the vehicle which brought the concrete pipe rings didn't, it looked like it could have been a jewson lorry but the logo was hidden. I was interested to find out how much the bay trees had cost but the price wasn't shown.

Probably....certainly the name 'Husqvarna' was clearly displayed on the robot mower.

Watched AT last night, building a garden for a war hero (a more deserving recipient would be hard to imagine)......but oh dear, talk about splashing the cash, the robot lawnmower alone had a price tag of £2,500.

I suppose in terms of the required expenditure to film an hour’s prime time TV, the cost may be justified. Having said that, I feel last night’s show must have cost in the region of £100k for hard landscaping alone.

DAVID.  Just watched your fred......I actually live in the village of Armitage with Handsacre.   It's getting to be of interest to planners for expansion .  I hope not in my lifetime. .   Why does everything have to be spoilt !!!!    I do know really, it's just sad.

Oooooer......we live about 3 miles from each other, meet you at The Plum Pudding for a drink.
