Thanks David, would once weekly watering be about right?

I can't be specific, Liam....but I think once a week would be too frequent. During the winter months I rarely water at all....just keep them on the dry side and remember, they just need to be ticking over until next spring, not putting on growth.

Try to image that if the compost is wet during a very frosty night, those tiny roots will be encased in a block of ice.

Sharpening garden tools

Probably no use to you at all, but I seem to sharpen all manner of tools for half the neighbourhood  and this is my mainstay:

Having said that, there very much cheaper versions available, quite suitable for lesser use.

Hostafan - I suspect you probably buy tools made from quality steel, as it's a definite fact that poor/cheap steel will not hold a sharp edge.

Spot on, Liam.....7 to 21 days is the normal germination time.

I would just add that they seem quite wet, better to keep them on the dry side. Perhaps not so much a problem at the moment, but will be as the weather gets colder.

Strictly is back!

Posted: 26/10/2015 at 16:57're ahead of me, Frank.  I was known to abuse the odd cinema, to the tune of Bill Haley & his Comets, all poshed-up in me drainpipes, blue suede shoes and wiv me Tony Curtis (with Brillcream) hair-do.....Sheesh, it woz cool to leave those (Brian Adams) short back and sides behind.

Nearest thing to stuffy was Jo Loss, Ted Heath and Jack Parnell.

Just look what I've come down to, Frank......I grow sweet peas, take photos & keep chickens.

I think Carol might be on a sticky wicket. I'm sure she's very nice but I find her a bit wet.

That would be pun, pp?  Maybe just having a dry spell.

For me, dance of the evening was Helen George.

Ainsley for the chop this week......and probably Bruno, if he doesn't wash his mouth out.
