Hi, Ann.....no need to apologise. The thread has been a little quite of late, but it has to be understood that people have lots to do at this time of year.

Nice cheery pics, James....unlike this rather bleak (if seasonal) shot I took in our local forest:

I've restored several of these over the years and have always found suitable wood (cut to size) available from my local timber merchant,

I would say however, that although there is a sense of achievement by doing so, the costs are such that it's hopelessly uneconomic and much cheaper to buy a new one......I have in mind the cost of Hammerite paint, the wood, varnish and time spent wire-brushing the wrought iron.

Hopefully I'll have some more pics to share next week......on Monday I'm visiting the beautiful Peak District. Stopping off at Bakewell, before going on to Chatsworth House for their 'Chatsworth at Christmas' event.

Those are certainly out of the ordinary, Keyser......what a fascinating location.

Keyser, please be assured I'm in no way offended.

Having said that, I'm sure you'll understand that as this is predominately a photographic thread, it would be better for pics posted to be taken by the member themselves to maintain its integrity......or (if not) a brief description of their source.

For what it's worth, I thought your dog pics were brilliant.

It's a lovely area where you live, Ann..... with lots of shooting opportunities and I see you're making good use of your super zoom.

Couldn't quite make anything out of the last two though.
