Compost

Artjak, what do you use in your homemade compost? I presume you add something to compost bin stuff To get it right. I have recently bought a sieve with good intentions but have yet to use it.

The war on slugs-

When my cat died I had lots of cat litter left over, the woody variety. I used it around my runner bean plant lets and it worked a treat, so much so I've considered buying some more. Cat litter is absorbent and slugs like to remain moist so I can see how it may work.

What are these two rockery plants called ?

They look like Alpine plants to me Nenah. The second one looks like an Alpine phlox which I have. It bares little pink flowers if it is the same plant. It will be easier to identify them when they have flowered.

Plant identification please.

Thanks everyone for your replies. This is in a mixed container along with a begonia, a fuchsia, and marigolds. I'm not sure how the fuchsia will fit in with the orange and yellow ones but I will see when it flowers. Still very good value for £4.99 I think!

thanks again for your input.

Plant identification please.

Can anyone ID this flower in a lovely planter I bought from Aldi for the very reasonable price of £4.99?

Thanks for that advice pansy, I will try to separate him but they are very difficult to catch in the pond as they swim deeper if they feel threatened. He did seem to go better for a few days but the rain overflowed the bucket with the tadpoles in, which I had placed in the pond, and some taddies got washed overboard and I'm pretty certain that over eating in his problem. I will withdraw feeding them as that seemed to do the trick before if I can't isolate him.

Asparagus Beetle infestation - Help!

I had this problem but the only advice I could find was to pick them off and also cut the foliage in winter time really short as they overwinter in these. I'm afraid to say that I gave up trying to save them in the end but will await any advice coming your way with interest
