Meconopsis- blue poppy - lingholm. Bareroot hostas

I have grown meconopsis from seed. I placed the seeds in a seed tray with seed starter mix in a plastic bag in the frig .when it germinated,I then planted it in a woodland part of the garden.

Ive grown blue bedder this year and I am trying white porcelain they have germinated and outside under cover.  They are lovely in the garden.

Potatoes in bags

I have planted my potatoes today .I planted in a large sturdy card board box .I put a mix of compost and leaf mold in the box put in chitted potatoes and covered with the rest of the mix about 3 inches deep and if it is to cold tonight ,I plan to fold over the flaps and cover with a fleece.I hope this works never done this before It does get down to about 3c at night here ,I was going to try growing in straw ,but with the wind we get it would be a mess.

Hi all, the scape is the curly shoot of the galic plant that is thicker than the leaves and if not cut off forms a flower.when you cut the scape off you send the energy to the bulb and get bigger garlic.Ta debra

Growing Sweet Peas

Hi david I just found the other pages on this site I must press reply to get to them. now that I have found it I must ask for your advice .My sweet peas are doing well and have been out in the cold frame for a while ,the roots are starting to grow out of the bottom of the loo rolls .HELP! what should I do .TA Debra

Hi garden girl,I would try to save your seedling by putting a clear storage bin over them and at night cover with a wool blanket. That has keep my seedling warm and they are outside! It is cold here in n.y. Hope that will help . Ta Debra

Hi all ,In a peat pot I just sprinkled some poppy seeds that I had in the cubboard.I bought them in the food store for cooking, to my surprize they germinated! I will plant them out and see what I get.
