Tadpoles and duck weed

Posted: 10/06/2015 at 20:21

Thanks for all the replies folks, I need to get this sorted asap as I don't want the water going stagnant through lack of light. I never thought such a tiny pond would cause me so much grief! I read that water mint can help as well because it feeds on the excess nutrients in the water, has anyone tried this?

Tadpoles and duck weed

Posted: 09/06/2015 at 20:08

HI guys, I wonder if anyone can help me, I have a good amount of tadpoles in the pond this year but also duckweed. Now I read somewhere that tadpoles will eat the weed so it's not a problem, however they don't seem to be very hungry! The pond is now completely covered but every time I try to remove the weed I end up with a net full of tadpoles as well. Obviously I don't want to kill any of them but picking them out of the weed one a time is a very slow and slippery job! Any suggestions as to how to proceed?

Many thanks for any advice.

Hi, thanks for the reply, it does look a little like frost damage except we haven't had any frost here since before i pruned it. Any idea what else it could be?

What's killing my hydrangeas

Hi folks, I noticed the other day both my hydrangeas appear to be dying. They were doing fine and have done for years, i pruned them as usual and had lots of new growth on them and now all the leaves are turning brown and shriveling up. I've read there can be fungal infections that affect them but this doesn't look like one. There's no spotting or furring up just the tip of the leaves has dried out and died, Any help on this gratefully received.

Thanks.

Peony tree - help!

I bought three last year and have exactly the same problem. I've read it's all about the planting depth and you have to get it exactly right or they don't like it. I planted as per instructions and still nothing so do i raise them this year and if that doesn't work lower them next? I don't know what to do for the best. Sorry i'm not much help, just thought i'd let you know your not alone.
