Aquilegia shapes

Posted: 11/05/2014 at 21:49

Yes Airwaves some of mine are really tall, well over 2ft. Not had that before. The wet winter we had must have affected them.

I'm delighted to see all these comments on this subject and I had found Touchwoods website was a delight to see. My daughter has some bi-coloured ones and I'd like to have a go at crossing some of mine.

I discovered this growing on a large hebe bush where I'd cut off a branch last year. I've found out what it's called but wondered if it is likely to spread to other plants. I'm assuming it only grows on rotting wood but want to be on the safe side. Amazingly like an ear!

Can anyone tell me if the different shaped aquilegia flowers around my garden have different names? The shape of flowers is so diverse, and I wondered if one of them is the native wild variety.

thank you Fairygirl and Forester2 for the compliments. I always have my camera handy to catch a good shot if I can. Have a look at my magnolia flower by my name.

Fairygirl I'd have loved to be in Loch Etive to see that. I love that place. We used to go there every 2 years before my husband had a stroke. That ride down to the end of the road truly remarkable. Such a peaceful place.

is this clematis cirrhosa?

That's It!! Great ! Thank you both very much. I just knew someone on here would be able to identify it correctly. I'm delighted that it's now got a name.

There's some great pics on this thread, so just wanted to add one taken last week.

I inherited this clematis and I think it may be a cirrhosa type. I would love to know what name this one is as I cannot find pictures of one like it anywhere on the web. It has pale greenish petals with a slight blush of pink but no spots. Can anyone help please?

Mmm. Yes I think my neighbour would take it as a personal criticism, so I'll just keep treating and digging I think!
