Gardeners world

Absolutely agree. I think a major problem is Monty's own choice of garden design, those narrow paths and tall hedges are claustrophobic. My small urban garden just doesn't have room for 'jewel' gardens or 'writing' gardens. I need to know about plants  cheek by jowel with others and get some ideas how to maintain a view all year round not just on a seasonal basis. Alan and Geoff ( those were the days) were very conscious of this and Joe has come up with ideas in G.,W. magazine, but the T.V. progrramme seems to have lost touch with the needs of many of it's viewers.

I've just watched back to back recordings of Gardener's World and Beechgrove. No comparison! Whilst Beechgrove is varied and interesting, G.W. has become so boring. Nigel's great and Carol maintains her enthusiasm but Monty just drones on and on. This year, last year, never anything to capture the attention. Time for a change of presenter or at least a hard look at the format?

Lonicera - yes, that might do the trick.

I must agree with Verdun. I don't have room for great swathes with  long paths and hedges seperating them, I need to know what's going to look good in small groups close together in a garden which has to look attractive all year round.

I'm rather tired of the Monty input, he rarely offers anything new, The Great Geoff and good old Alan looked at design as an integral part of gardening. The Joe Swift bit is far too short for him to come up with something exciting, why isn't he given more opportunity to inspire us? Time for a change of lead presenter?

I have acouple of health box globes but am thinking of putting in box as an edging for flower beds. Every time I Look at Gardeners World T.V. or magazine someone is issuing dire  warnings about blight. Is it really such a threat? Any suggestions for a substitute if I succombe to the fear of plants dying as soon as I've put them in?
