Thanks Busy-Lizzie, I used to do opedience training and showing with border collies aswell. (managed to show at crufts). She loved horse poo and rolling in cow pats too..

I would think if you dig a decent hole and give it a good start with plenty of fertilizer/compost it should be ok.

I would say anything that grows in full sun, just be wary of the amount of moisture available though as the tree will take alot of it.

Crushed up asprin basically, or you can use sugar, a couple of drops of bleach, lemonade, vodka, copper coins, apple cider vinegar..

Although I assume not all together

David 25, I'm not sure that the olive tree in a border is the best idea, They like relatively poor soil conditions and they like being baked and on the dry side, it might be too damp for it in your border. If you are able to I would be tempted to widen that border & like Dove said, put some climbers up that fence. (I have emailed you a pic of what I mean)
