March in your Garden

On a gardening note, I would have liked to have mowed the lawn this morning, but, I bought a new mower (my old one got stolen), but my new one is petrol. well I dont have a car, so I had to walk all the way into town to pick it up (taxi back, it was 30kg).
I'm not so idiotic as to think that the mower would come with petrol, (thats just stupid & dangerous). So yesterday I walked into town again to buy a petrol carry can, then walked all the way back home & to the nearest petrol station (But what luck - no oil). Even went to several nearby garages, "oh no we dont do that oil", to then get home again and find out, its basically high performance motorbike oil. So now I have to walk into another town today to a halfords to get some oil.

Same here Bunny.. & ShropshireLass, my lab is super nosey, she will even dip her nose into my coffee to see if its tea or coffee, if its coffee she just jumps up on my knee & curls up for a snooze, but if its tea, she just sits there perfectly erect like a show dog, waiting for a drink. I mostly have to show her what something is before I can get on with said something or its nose in pushing me out of the way. Im not moaning, she is adorable, I love her personality.

Flowers we don't like?

Surely if you change the water it doesn't stink & also make the flowers live longer? Im not sure I would want to buy flowers knowing they had been standing in the same water a whole week..

Salt will kill plants and damage the soil, you would struggle to grow anything after that so dont do it lyn

She is extremely well trained and likes to sleep as much as she can, she hates it when I wake her up in the morning to go out to the loo, but she goes on command so its tough (unless its raining, in which case I can sod off) . Then she's straight back to bed until 3ish.

I also had some luck the other day, I was out clearing up a pile of rotting & freshly cut ivy, old rose branches & st johns wort that i had left on the patio and low and behold, underneath it were a load of young snails & slugs, I soon went to town doing a dance on them. It was just another trap and hiding place for them, easy for me.

Its awfull when a pet dies, well they aren't really pets for most people, they are one of the family. I hate to see when people hurt animals and get off with such light fines etc. If somone hurt my dog I would (well lets just say I would). I hope you gave him a good send off Sue H and BrummieBen
