Beautiful weather here in Dorset, sunny and hot and not cloud in the sky

lilac tree cuttings

144art: I have had my Lilacs since 1999 and I took the cuttings in May. I did use rooting powder and it seemed to work well. You could give willow tea a try, I haven't used it though so I don't know how good it is. I did take a few cuttings to make sure I got at least one plant, I did loose a few. I am one of those people that will try anything, if "they" say you can't take cuttings of that, I will have a go any way, anything is worth a try. Good luck hope your cuttings take.

Here is a picture of my Peony I have got in a pot. The flowers are such a lovely yellow I always think that they should smell of lemons. Your pictures are lovely happymarion.

Hi sunnylou

I am growing these beautiful plants. I brought two quite large pots of these back from Holland in April, they are now in the garden and growing well. I have also got two pots with some Alstromerias in that I have had for a few years, and they flower their socks off every year and I even had flowers on Christmas day. I didn't put them in greenhouse for the winter (I am on the south coast), they stayed outside close to the house wall. As you are in Yorkshire, I think I would keep them in pots to bring in over winter. If you want them in your flower beds maybe you could plunge the pot into the ground then lift them to bring into the greenhouse in the winter. These are one of my favourite plants and I wouldn't mind if my garden was full of them, they are just so lovely and flower for such a long time. Good luck with yours.

What did you do in your garden today?

I have bought a few plants from Lidl and they have all been really good. Purchased some fucshias last year and they have all made it through the winter and looking good. I've got some Heuchera that I got about 3 years ago and they have grown very well. Lidl plants, great value for money.

At last the sun has shown its face and I have been in the garden most of the day. Planted some sweet william and cosmos out into the garden and some pot marigold. I've potted on into larger pots my new fucshias. It is so nice to see the sun and have it little warmer. I don't want to alarm anybody but I was in the garden without my coat and hat today.

Are we really in May or have we just jumped to October. Your poor little plants nut, hope they are ok. The wind is just bitter today and I am on the south coast.
