why don't people bother to read post before answering them.

I love reading all the comments that people leave, and like Penninepetal says you don't always stay on the same topic when having face to face conversation. I just think it is a shame some get so cross about such trivial things, life too short. Try and smile more.

My Lavender freebies are really growing well, growing into nice bushy plants. Like you happymarion I will be over wintering them and plant them out next spring, that should get the bee's buzzing next year.

So sorry honeysuckle2 to hear about your greenhouse. It doesn't matter how it started, how upsetting for you and loosing all your cuttings. I know what its like to have your greenhouse damaged, I had someone jump through mine and bend all the frame and broke the glass (they were running from the police) while we were away on holiday, I was so upset but my lovely husband managed to put it right. I hope you can replace your greenhouse soon. Good luck

Talkback: Where are the ladybirds?

Posted: 20/08/2012 at 18:53
I am also infested with greenfly, and haven't seen any ladybirds either. My sweetpea have been covered in them and my runner beans covered in blackfly. I have sprayed with soapy water but to no avail, they just keep on coming. I would rather not have sweetpeas to pick than to spray them with pesticides.
If you get any ladybirds please send some my way.

What a great series!

Hi everyone, thank you for your answers, David, I'm sorry I didn't know about your thread    Leggi, I have used soap spray and it hasn't shifted the little devils at all. Hollie-Hock, I too have given up bringing them into the house because of the greenfly and this time I am going to do Autumn sowings, these were spring sowings. Hopefully next year will be brilliant for sweetpeas. Thank you everyone.

My Sweetpea haven't done well at all. Not really that many flowers, foliage not green and healthy and they have been covered in greenfly. I have had a few pickings off them and the perfume from the ones I've picked have been glorious. I've loved them, watered them, fed them and this is how they repay me. Has anyone else had the same problem. Other years they have done so well. Still, there is always next year.

Summer's ending

Posted: 16/08/2012 at 18:43

Although it has been raining and dull, I do find it nice that it is still warm outside. Just been in the garden and its very dull here in Bournemouth and there are few spots of rain, but it has been really nice in the garden even though the sun doesn't shine, and you get that lovely smell after a fall of fresh summer rain. Don't worry I'm sure the sun will be back soon and Autumn is definately not here yet.
