My Lovely Lillies

Posted: 13/09/2012 at 18:32

Hi everyone, thought you might like to see my lovely lillies. We bought these in Holland last week as a cut flower, they were all in tight bud. We kept them in the fridge to keep them cool, (it was 29c outside) and to stop them opening too soon. They were still in bud when we got home and I put them into water straight away. Now they have started to open and the perfume is unbelivable.

pot grown tree

I've got a Silver Birch in a pot and it is growing very well. Like Bookertoo said, you do have to look after them, watering etc. I have also got 2 Lilac treave in pots, they have been in there for the past 5 years. They flower every year and beauty of it is, the blooms are nose height so you can enjoy the lovely perfume. It also makes it easy to prune them.

Wartime Farm

Yes, really looking forward to seeing this programme. I loved the Victorian Farm and Edwardian Farm, so interesting. The programme they had on several weeks ago was another good one, different families living in several houses in a street in Morecambe, the programme took them through Victorian, War time the 60's and the 70's, really good. I love this sort of programme.

Changing the thread topic again, (sorry to the person who started this) but has anyone been Floriade this year in Holland, its only on every ten years, looks fab on the internet and I am going there soon, can't wait to take lots and lots of photos. Figrat, I would definately add some glitter to your varnish, all girls love things that sparkle

Rose Cuttings Question

Posted: 29/08/2012 at 17:55

I have saved the advice from  Paul N on taking rose cuttings in my favourites bar. He is really good. I have taken a cutting, well, it was a piece that was broken off in the winds and mine also has lost its leaves at the top but it seems to be hanging in there. I am definately going to have a go at some more.

I love reading all the comments that people leave, and like Penninepetal says you don't always stay on the same topic when having face to face conversation. I just think it is a shame some get so cross about such trivial things, life too short. Try and smile more.

Lavender

My Lavender freebies are really growing well, growing into nice bushy plants. Like you happymarion I will be over wintering them and plant them out next spring, that should get the bee's buzzing next year.
