About me:Hello, I have lived in the NE Scotland for 11years, and have just moved, and have inherited a large garden, I have been told, that at one time it was beautiful, but has been negleted for over 20 years!! There is not a lot left plant wise, some mature trees, couple of shrubs, plenty of hardy fuchsias (all the same variety), which I quite like and have moved them all,put them together to form a hedge. Snowdrops and daffs are scattered about, and the odd clump of white and blue campanula. Thats about it really, except for lots of lawns, well I say lawns, they are really masses of moss with the odd blade of grass sticking through! These need to be removed and started again from stratch, the ones I will keep anyway, the rest will be permanently removed for planting. I am hoping to buy a polytunnel this year, and grow as much as I can myself, I don't have the budget to buy into the 'instant garden' look, nor would I want to, I get a lot of pleasure from propagation of my own plants, ( a big Carol Klein fan). So I have been around friends and family with forks, spades and secateurs,(they must dread me calling, and depleting their gardens!) to get me on my way. Been here 18mths so far and its been basically tidy up removing, and grass cutting, plus trying to grow on things in loads and loads of pots they are everywhere! The house was as negleted, and that had to come first...not finished indoors (are you ever) but the majority is done, and whats left can be left until winter approaches again and drives me inside, or will it if I get my poly?!! Anyway, my plan is to be out in the 'unloved garden' as much as poss, weather permitting, poor summers up here last few years, and turn it into a 'loved garden'. Its a daunting task I must admit, never tackled one as big, or unkept before, and design is not my strong point. So a lot of hard work ahead, a lot of swearing, tantrums and mistakes, BUT! I am going to enjoy every minute of it!! Anyone out there want to help...
more coming soon...
