Summer flowering evergreen Clematis

Posted: 09/03/2013 at 10:26

Hi, i have a Summer flowering evergreen Clematis, growing up a trellis on my fence(I think its a summer one but could be early autumn,as i have lost the instruction card and cant remember even the name of it.) i bought it as a very small plant last spring, so it has not flowered yet but has put on a lot of growth since, and has grown to the top of the trellis already.I would like to know when and how to prune it ,if at all.I am  a very novice gardener but am learning slowly through the kind help of all you experts on this forum,it has given me so much inspiration, so this is where i come when i have a problem and would be really grateful for any help.Have tried to upload a Pic of the plant but its not letting me do it at the moment, but will keep trying.Kind regards Elizabeth.

Hi, thanks very much for your quick reply, ive put this pic up of it. as you can see its a three stemmed plant and ive taken most of the yellowing leaves off but they were underneath each of the three stems.I will have to find somewhere with a bit more light but will leave it where it is for a few days to see how it goes. many thanks for your advice.

Hi, i bought a Dracaena Marginata houseplant in the summer, and put it in my conservatory near a wndow, it thrived there until the weather turned cold.(My conservatory gets very cold in the winter, i do have a heater in there but dont put it on as i dont use the room much.) Anyway a lot of the leaves have turned yellow and some have dropped off.I water it sparingly so i dont think this is the problem as i know they dont like to be overwatered. I moved it into my lounge two days ago as it is much warmer but there is not as much light. Do you think the cold is the problem and have i done the right thing in moving it even though the light is,nt as good.Any help with this problem would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi could anyone  tell me why my spring flowering clematis montana is flowering again in September. It was a little late flowering due to the bad weather (late spring). But i eventually had a good show of lovely white flowers. It only put on a bit of  growth after flowering,,and the leaves turned a russet colour. Now i have PINK flowers coming.I am only a novice gardener but i was told that the Montana is a spring flowering Clematis.I,m not complaining about this because it does look nice. just curious. So  any info would be gratefully received, thanks.

Hi can anyone give a novice gardener some advice please.I have done really well with my sweetpeas. Its the first time i have grown them, they have grown really tall and ive had lots of beautifull fragrant flowers . but now the bottom leaves have gone yellow and the plant dos,nt look very attractive i also have some pods forming. They were grown in a large pot.Is it now time to discard the plant ? The seed packet said they bloom from june to august. i have cut the last of the flowers, there are a few more forming but not many.
