Just planted out more French and runner beans, found another overwintered survivor. Can't remember if it's Moonlight ( White) or scarlet runner, but should fit in with jubilee bean planting scheme.

Here's a link that shows how to make them. A friend of mine makes all of hers, mostly for herbaceous perennials, in early spring. They look lovely through the whole season. I've made a few, really should do more!

I don't really think there's a better way than try them yourself. As that doesn't seem possible, is there any chance that your mother's hands are of a similar size to yours and maybe she could try them to see how they feel?

Just out of interest, I've always understood that green manures are cut down and hoed directly into the soil. Does this have a detrimental effect in terms of nitrogen depletion/ excess heat?

I think that pinching out the tops is recommended when the first pods are forming. And if they're not plastered with blackfly already, can be eaten.
