Zap it in the microwave for about 5 minutes to sterilise it, keep covered and use as seed compost.

My sister popped over yesterday - I live on the southern side of Dartmoor, she's on the west.
She said my garden's a good couple of weeks ahead of hers, i.e. most of my daffs are out, snowdrops over, tulip buds showing colour. But I possibly have the advantage of the microclimate of a walled garden, with its granite storage heaters!

I have a soft spot for sheets of deep purple aubretia pouring over garden walls. Never had much luck here though, even though I've got walls a plenty.

They do like good drainage, it's often advised to put a couple of handfuls of grit into the planting hole if you're gardening on heavy soil.
