Talkback: The best crops for flavour

Posted: 19/09/2014 at 15:08

Do not grow Ildi, lovely looking yellow cherry sized plum shape. Tastes like wallpaper paste (in my imagination anyway).

Do not grow yellow stuffer either, another yellow tomato with no flavour.

Pink flamingo had very little flavour and kept falling off the plants.

Gardeners Delight and Sungold are my favourite so far

Have they been eaten from the inside? If they have it's probably codling moth. Have a look at this RHS link https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=489

You can cut a bit off it now to reduce the chance of wind rock over winter, but the main pruning time is at the beginning of spring, down to about 2 foot
