Mini Squash

Posted: 07/08/2014 at 12:31

To get seeds from a Patty Pan as shown in your picture you would have to leave it on the plant to grow very large and with a hard skin, but the plant might stop growing more which you want to eat. So I wouldn't bother about saving seeds, or not until quite late on. Saving seed is easier for the winter storing squash rather than the summer (using straight away) squash as the winter squash are kept growing until the fruit is fully matured which means the seeds are viable for sowing next year.

Having a lid on your water butt will also stop and bees falling in and drowning. Never mind any other inquisitive creatures

That's funny because my Queen Victoria was the one the slugs and snail really went for rather than the fanfare series one

My blueberry plants

What compost did you pot them into? You should use an ericaceous compost for blueberries such as John Innes Ericaceous and you should water them with rain water and use a special feed for ericaceous plants. Blueberry leaves turn red in autumn before falling off.

So what should we be doing with our grass right now?

They are indoor cucumbers. I pinched out the tops of my cucumbers when they reached the top of the cane
