Grape hyacinths

They need the leaves to photosynthesise which will feed the bulb so that it can flower again and again. Depends on whether you want them to flower again

I would guess it's to do with the shadow of one plant over the next plant???

You need to remove a lot of the infected soil to be able to grow another woody plant in the same place, the RHS has a list of less affected plants which may be ok to grow, otherwise herbaceous perennials are ok

Seed sown late summer 2012 flowered this year, so yours will probably flower next year if they survive the winter

First and only time I grew Red Duke of York they were no good and went squishy. I've never had problems with Charlotte which are classed as 2nd early, left them in next to a different variety of potatoes and the Charlottes were untouched by slugs, the other variety were nearly all damaged. Some people don't dig trenches for their potatoes, instead they just grow them in a big pile of compost on top of the soil surface. Digging well rotted manure into the ground would definitely help the condition of the soil.

Some kind of bulb, possibly an allium, do the leaves smell of onion/garlic?

New planting for front garden wall

You need to have a dig around in the soil, if it is fairly free draining you could put some lavender in. The space doesn't look very big to me, a lot of the suggestions are quite large plants
