They often rot from the flower end, I remove dead flowers as they go all soggy and cause the rot

Chrysanthemum rust is caused by Puccinia horiana while garlic rust is caused by Puccinia allii (syn. Puccinia porri). Therefore they will not attack other plants outside their preferred species

You probably need to protect them from slugs and snails as these will have caused the initial damage, the woodlice will have only moved in afterwards.
