Dove - you wouldn't be soon to retire by any chance, would you

Chicky, thank you so much for that information. I shall seek out the May mag. forthwith!

Afties all. Have spent a little while sitting out enjoying the sun!!! (I know!!!) and trying to decide where to plant the shrubs I already have. Round my new paving in case I failed to make that clear. Came in to find requirements for shrubs I have so far. Now I really need to find somewhere to obtain reasonably priced 'little stuff' - small lavenders and thymes for starters as GC pots work out rather pricey.

Great cake, Bjay - get practising!

Morning all.

Just a flying visit as I have to be at dog rescue open day all morning. I hope the sunshine lasts so I can get outside this afternoon.

Hope the sun shines where you are too

This is all sounding rather exciting Becks and Bjay. I need something bricky to repair the edges of my pond. If those paviors are not too thick, they might be just the thing! And we have a Wickes not too far away.

Was very sad to have to let Pete the Paving man dump most of the topsoil he dug out, I would loved it to have gone to someone who wanted it

Bjay, I share your drain pain! Luckily I can usually make mine do the ploop with my own drain rods. Not a choice job, though. Good for speedy Dynorod.

Glad Beechgrove has been mentioned, thanks folks. I'd managed not to notice when it was on so a Sunday repeat will be welcome.

Morning everyone.

Glad workmen have gone so I don't feel like a specimen in a glass case - not that they peeked in but I was always aware that they were there. Too cold to do outside stuff at the mo. but may be off to GC for lunch later with my sis. so a bit of browsing may be on the cards

Glyn, like GG, I am SO glad that my marking days are behind me .

Have fun one and all

Great suggestion, Lead Farmer, thank you. I love lavender, it would like the dryish sunny aspect and it may be chicken resistant as I have some elsewhere that seems to have survived OK.

Not sure I want to post these now after Lead Farmer's lovely pics. But I said I would. This is part of the area I'm re-doing after neglecting for a few years then allowing chickens to free-range.

Have now had some paved areas laid to walk on / sit on and will be planting around and about so there are lovely things to look at and chickens can scratch about underneath shrubs without making the place look like a desert. Thinking about thyme and ??? not sure what else to soften paved edges.

Bjay, hello there. Cake-gate reminds of my sister who is a calligrapher and was designing all the invitations, place cards and anything else writey for her son's wedding.  Her style is quite formal, minimalist and classy, DiL to be was into pink bows and 'cute' things - it took a lot of doing to achieve a  satisfactory result because my sis. was not going have anything go out that she wouldn't want to admit to but obviously it's bridey's big day ....  Groom-to-be kept his head down
