Discouraging Starlings

I haven't seen a starling round here for many years now. Wish I could have some of yours, Lunarz.

Know your soil type

Posted: 16/08/2012 at 16:04

Does anyone know if soil testing kits stop working after a while. I bought one, didn't use it then rediscovered it a year or so later. When I used it it seemed to be telling me that my soil was very low on every nutrient going. I'm sure it's not that bad!!!

Beg to differ on answer 9 Geoff. Spider mites surely have 8 legs as they are mites and related to arachnids with their 2 section bodies and 8 legs. Unless of course you have been pulling legs off your poor little spoider mites. I confess I thought this but did a quick googlecheck just now so I didn't make a total prat of myself.

Sad day, Blue Boy the hedgehog seems to have moved out. No food eaten for 2 nights :- (
Trouble is I tried to make the garden to keep the hedgies in so if they do shin up the ivy and go next door, it's well nigh impossible to get back I should think.

Hurrah! New Gardening Prog.

Posted: 16/08/2012 at 09:24

It's not intended as a gardening programme, is it? It's a reality-feelgood-makeover show or whatever they call them. Personally I don't see anything wrong with these shows if viewers want to watch them - mawkish seems to be an audience-puller. It is a pity if the message is going out that this is how to 'do gardening' but I don't think it is.

Totally agree that there should be one more proper gardening programme somewhere in the schedule.

PS I only watched the second half, that was long enough.
PPS I like Phil Tuffnell

Hello Chris, I'm a Christine too but only called that by my mum or when I've been norty! I'm Chrissie to most people. However, I very much like being Flo and it's nice and short. The latest list of popular baby names is out, I think ours will be well down the ranking - it belongs to 'a certain era' as do I ;- )

Kate, you hit the nail on the head! I headed straight for the Licious Cupboard. Second call was 14 mins but more helpful. I am calmer now, thank you Geoff. Especially as I have 18.6 and must be in gold medal position until the Chinese and the Americans have their goes.
