Pyracantha

I planted 4 Pyracantha (red) plants in early spring. Three have bloomed, grown well and have berries forming. One is weaker with no berries forming and not much growth. They are about 4 feet apart and soil conditions are the same for all, a clay based soil with compost dug in. The weak plant has some yellowing leaves. Any ideas?

Italophile thank you for your detailed reply. All the folige is affected there are only two trusses and they are poor because of the cold in early summer. There is no sign of aphids or whitefly, just small plants and overall pale leaves. I have watered less this year so I dont think it is overwatering. Someone said it could be the cold.

Can anyone tell me why my tomato plant leaves curl up? I have two varieties in the greenhouse. The plants of Shirley are healthy, disease free with dark green foliage and a late but decent crop, but with Moneymaker its a different scene; the leaves are pale and curled. There doesn't seem to be any pest present, but the crop is weak.

Is there anything that can go in now for an autumn crop ?

I have got some winter spinach seedlings coming on in the greenhouse. I thought I'd give them a strong start before planting out because I live in Scotland and its cooler. You should be OK in the south.

Thanks for your message. Our climates are similar, so wet this summer. I'll try again next year. You mentioned that Desiree had escaped; of my survivors most were that variety.

Renfrewshire - I grew Desiree and Arran Pilot this year in the ground, and ended up having to lift them early because of blight (which I had never had).The result was a poor crop of small tubers. The quantity will not see me through the winter, that's for sure. Has anyone else had potato blight?
