Gardening Shows in 2013

Posted: 21/02/2013 at 12:09
I'm not planning any gardening shows at the mo, but am looking forward to going to Ness Gardens (Wirral), I haven't got a car but our local bus company has just started a service going there every half hour. Am really pleased . Not been there before so am looking forward to going.
Was going to go this week but too cold......lovely pics Lizzie and Love to garden

Wilko,s

Hi Alan , I get a lot of my gardening stuff from wilko's, can't say I have ever had any problems. I love their gardening section. My favourite haunt is the garden centre but sometimes a bit too pricey for some of the things I need. I think you can get bargains in a lot of the shops.
I bort an orchid for three pounds about five months ago and it is only now starting to drop its flowers.
Enjoy your shopping.

It Is Not Spring Yet !!!

It's been lovely here on the Wirral, fog and frost this morning and now clear blue skies. Even a hint of warm sunshine. Will make the most of it, not sure about later in the week.

I can't up load foto's on my IPad Geoff, would love to post something next to my profile but can't. If I did it would be a photo of two doggies I knit called Fred and bob. Fred looks as if he is an a accident waiting to happen and bob is a beagle. They are very lifelike and sit together on one of my armchairs.

Clay soil and boggy lawn

Posted: 17/02/2013 at 17:31
We have clay soil here and it is a bit of a nightmare. The ground is very spongy when you walk on it, but after having said that the grass grows well. Don't know what the answer is to our clay soil (landlords prob) but I still enjoy going out there, with my wellies on and have a good walk around. Have tried growing things but not with too much success, shrubs really and a perennial lavateria at the mo, have even put sum bluebells in. Trees grow well here too, especially holly.
