Talkback: How to feed your plants

Posted: 29/01/2013 at 17:57
Hi Ann, potash is another name for potassium which is important for plant growth. You can buy it in garden centres and maybe some big stores. Not sure if it comes in granules but you can get it in a box in powder form and add it to your watering can. Hope this has helped you in some way. I have only been gardening for the past five or six years and it has been a lovely journey, especially learning all these new things and I'm still learning. I don't know too much about the ins and outs of all these feeds but I think I know enough to get by now. Barbara

Interested in trying to grow sweet peas. Didn't do very well last year but going to persevere this time. Picked up some helpful hints but didn't think the video was long enough.

I have just bought some Busy Lizzie seeds with the hope that they may be free of the disease that has played havoc with them this past few years. Does anyone know about this years busy seeds?

Ceanothus

Posted: 25/01/2013 at 22:43
I look after a nursing home garden with raised beds ( about two and a half feet off the ground) , the bed with the shrubs in is well sheltered , more or less in a court yard. In the middle of all the shrubs and at the front of the display is ceanothus. It does well every year and I just give it a trim when it gets overgrown. Not had any probs with it, don't know whether that is because of its surroundings and the raised bed it is in bunny. It has shrubs behind it and at each side. The raised bed itself is about 10metres long . Sorry about all the detail but trying to explain the location of the shrub and maybe why it does well.

What's the weather like in your area?
