liquid horse poo

Posted: 12/05/2012 at 13:45

Hi.. I have had a fresh horse poo tea bag in my water butt for a week now and I am wondering what's ok to put it on and when.. I am growing, cabbage, courgette, runner beans, peas, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumber, aubergine, salad leaves, onions, garlic, peppers and loads of herbs, Plus flowers and shrubs in boarders...

Also I'm growing the potatoes in bags and I beleive I have to add more soil when I have shoots, but how long should the shoots be before adding it.

Many thanks

Aubergine

yeah I'l go and get one at the weekend....very stupid question but is the term 'planting out' mean planting out of the greenhouse into the garden?..
Also I have some potato plants in bags and the shoots are about 2cm above the soil, at what height shoud the shoots be before I add more soil.

Even though I am very new to growing veg I am really enjoying it.. this year will be a big learning curve for me..
Thanks for all your help

Hi all..its me again ..lol

I have got a Aubergine plant today from a nursery its about 12" tall and has good big leaves..I waas just wondering if there are any tips to growing them as I am a novice... I intend to grow it in a pot under a patio plastic greenhouse type thingie(.2'x 3' tall  sits on the patio)..I have put a bamboo stick and secured it to it as it was growing at an angle.. right or wrong ? I have it on kitchen window until it gets warmer...hopefully lol

You all have been so helpful with my last posts soI thought I'd ask away again

Horse poo

Thanks for the replys.....I have lifted the fresh poo from soil and put that and the rest into a large container with a few holes in and put about 3" of normal compost on the top to let it rot down as i dont have any ground space without grass on suitable  to put a pile of it on.........Is what ive done ok..sorry to ask  but I am a complete novice..

Also I have seen somewhere that courgettes apparently grow really well on manure piles.. any truth please

Thanks all Sally

Horse poo

Hi.....I have got some nice fresh horse poo, I have made a 'tea bag' and put it in my water butt.. it has been seaping for 2 days now and the water is a lovely amber colour.. I am wondering how much longer to leave it seaping.

I have dug some in around my runner beans, potatoes and onions and have been told I can use the water on anything  ie fruit veg and flowers.... I intend to dig the rest into the flower beds...As i am new to gardening I would value any comments and to know that what im doing is fine...

cheers

is it too late for this year
