mine grow in pots and they like to live in the sun room with out heating and watered when really dry (1 a month in winter) and misted occasionally. In winter and summer they need a feed and if you can get them out side n summer when the sun is shining. In Italy  saw them in pots put out for the summer and back in winter, and they looked lovely.

sounds like you have got it right,I use to have a pantry with a marble cold slab ,it kept things cool and a good place to store all those jars and bottles.I wish I had one now,you do have to be careful of damp and have it well ventilated.

What's the weather like in your area?

its snowed again during the night and the side roads are like a sheet of glass as are the pavements where no one has shoveled.I have cleared the front and helped clear a few other paths ,but the snow is taking along time to clear,We have  a leaking pipe under the house in the kitchen,(a mini lake below the floor boards)I think this  the truth about the slugs ,nice and damp ,anyhow more expense.

I think I will plant a lot more berry bushes ,as I have watched many more birds in the pyracantha bush eating the berries and sheltering.(blackbird, thrush, and I thought I saw a fire crest )any how more bushes, water is a problem in how to keep it from freezing and putting seed and nuts out ,they seemed to have ignored.(even the squirrel.....)
