I don't know but it looks like lace wings have attacked it or some sort mould.

best to wait until frost danger is over and that they have rooted well.
garlic is a good one ,made by putting a clove into a bottle of water and leave for a day before use. It helps but you need other protection as well or soapy water is another,its on going battle.
they like a lot of sun and water plus manure and don't pull the stalks to soon. you could force them by covering with a pot (big).

Humans are far louder and annoying ,cars ,fire works ,and that's in the early hours .enjoy the natural noises of this earth ,bird song or squawk is beautiful.
box blight smells and the leaves turn blackish and the bush looks really sad.
foxglove tree or foxtail lily both I cant grow .
