your right there is alot of rubbish on over Christmas,and if you have been around as long as I have ,you will have seen most of the films dozen times or more.Is it because they think we will be to drunk and disorderly to notice or cant they afford anything else.but of course if you haven't seen any of the rubbish they put on you might well enjoy it,(moan).

Thinking of installing a pond

true,the fish will eat the frog spawn and toad and anything else,ponds like anything else have to be looked after .You may  have to a filter or like me I just change the water ever so often.plants will need dividing and leaves removed but they are lovely when the plants flower and the wildlife come.

Drowning bamboo, how much can they take?

I don't think there is much chance of drowning bamboo its hard to get rid of once it takes a hold!its not killed off in my garden by the water logging and I have seen a splendid bamboo in a garden right next to a pond and river that is flooded often.

Biten by unknown bugs

I have also noticed under stones and baskets huge flea s(I quess that's what they are) hoping all over the place,not nice,even in all this rain and cold they  are active.

Bush/Tree Identification

I grew 2 from seed,I call it the shrimp plant but of course its what dove from above said,its a lovely plant that needs to be kept in check,but the berries look lovely in winter(when its not raining buckets)

Buddleja

I have  a number of buddlias and I cut some back servere and others a gentle chop,the only thing is if you chop to severe they will die,I have lost a few that way.they are of course great at seeding themselves and from  a seedling they grow quickly or even a stick cutting,for the best effect with out taking over the border is to keep it as a bush.If you have very old lanky ones ,get rid of and start with seedlings or cuttings.They are so lovely giving butterflies,bees and all manner of insects the nectar they need and hurs of watching for you,they come in many diffeent colours ,mine,deep purple,lilac,yellow(double) and I long for a white one.

Broad beans and sweet peas

when it stops raining you can put out the sweet peas,I have but that was before the deluge.

the lesser hooded Vandal who tried to claim residence of the local co-0p got the perfect deterrent ,classical music,they soon dispersed.The hospital I worked at had your local druggie hanging around the gates as I walked home from work and also in the early mornings,the deterrent believe it or not was when more of us began to walk in the mornings but the real wildlife was far more interesting and got to know their identities as did the university that was studying them(foxes).
