slugs and toddlers

It is best if you have small children to kill slugs by not using poisons .Use the old methods ,salt, put in bucket and dispose.small children will put anything in their mouths and even if they touch it they don't wash their hands .Seeing a child suffer the effects and sometimes die of poisoning is not worth  the risk.Yes teach children about plants and poisons ,that's important but at young age under five they cant understand that.

I don't know, but enjoy the plant as it flowers.it must be the right conditions or it would not flower.don't over water and feed little and often when in flower.

When to net blackcurrant bushes against birds?

Posted: 15/04/2013 at 16:52

if you want to net the fruit that's o.k and do this ,but at the moment the birds are looking for insects to eat off the bush, such as sawfly larvae which does a lot of harm which birds help to keep at bay.My self, and I have a lot of fruit bushes don't bother that much about the birds ,they do take some but I have  more than enough to share.I have seen a good fruit cage which covers a small area and lets you stand up and work with in.

Removing block paving and laying Turf

Posted: 15/04/2013 at 16:42

HURRAH!at last someone has seen sense in this awful craving for gravel, grit and paving.I can understand if you have a very small front garden or a car to put in the drive but lately all front but a lot of the gardens big or small have been taken over by this lazy mans crazy for not mowing a lawn .Who wants unnatural material that's lifeless ,grass is alive and gives life to wildlife and you.Re- move the sharp sand and put the top soil on,that's my opinion .good luck and enjoy your lawn.

Any advice on hand-push lawnmowers?

Posted: 15/04/2013 at 16:33

I have old push lawn mower and it cuts the best, its costs nothing to run and just a bit of oil in spring .It gives that plesent sound to mowing not that high whine of electric.Green as anything for the enviroment cause it out live you.

We love Monty!

that's it ,leave Monty alone, the only person responsible for the plant disaster is buyer(the person who buys for the shops from the nursery)stop looking for scapegoats and just accept its a bad start to the year.
