Dicemanc...The general shape is there. All I do is trim any part of plant that is not within the shape. No hassel!!!

Dicemanc.. I have in my garden a bay lollipot style 4 foot tall plant. I keep the shape by trimming whatever is not in keeping with the shape. No suckers in site. I feed it once a year and 'talk' to it whenever I pass it!!

cut back/ prune?

I 've got 2 tamarisk in my garden. Both flower in the Spring about May time. Once they have finished flowering, I cut them really hard back...  looks awful after the hard prune for a couple of weeks than new growth starts. Both have given me a good show of flowers every year. To date they are both alive!!!

Your choice of plants sounds exciting!! The end results will be good.

Plant ID please

Could it be a 'shoo-fly' plant or nicandra physalodes? A member of the solanacea or potato family. I had one growing in my garden some years back. If wrong I stand corrected.

Verdict....your new plants this year

My wite cosmos are giving me a terrific display, also salvas, pink achillea, roses, geum,. The asters although having mildew are giving me/will be giving a good display or flowers/buds.

The fruit trees, apples, pears grown as cordons are producing a good crop. The currants...red, pink and black heavy crop...well pleased.

On the 'down' side my 'corky' was a great dispointment to me.  I'll give the TLC for another year and reassess the plants. Extra work include all the roses...after the terrific display suffered blackspots.
